Growing up in Athens, GA, the home of R.E.M., the B-52s, and Widespread Panic (plus a million other bands) and still one of the greatest towns for local music on Earth, being in at least one band is pretty much a right of passage. I was lucky enough to be in several bands in my 22 years in Athens. We never got famous, we never made much money, but we had a lot of fun.
I still write and record music in my spare time, which I’ll add here in new posts as I muster up the courage to share. In the meantime, here are links to a few of the bands I got to play with.
EARTH FROM SPACE – post-rock; a basement dwelling recording project, never seen nor heard in the wild of downtown Athens or anywhere else for that matter. Still occasionally contributed to with oddities from all of the members. With Jimmy Bones, Chrismon Hinsch, and Taylor Cyle.
Furies – post-rock-pop; The bridge between the former and the latter… Only played one or two shows under this moniker, luckily we managed to record one of them and posted it online as quickly as we could, only weeks before it all came tumbling down.
Stab the Cook – punk; From the depths of high school angst. With Chrismon Hinsch (my life long bass playing amigo, if you haven’t noticed) and Michael Crowe.
